Western USA gets its first Live Action Role Playing convention - Wyrd Con – presented by LARP Alliance and Live Effects.

Wyrd Con (http://www.wyrdcon.com) is aimed at uniting, educating, and entertaining the community.

Larry Niven, Steven Barnes, and John Wick join Wyrd Con One!

The convention will be hosting several Award-winning VIPs, including Larry Niven and Steven Barnes, the writers of the DREAMPARK series, and John Wick, the renowned game designer for Legend of the Five Rings and Houses of the Blooded.

"The world of live action will have an opportunity for advancement... this will be a showcase to share ideas and explore..." says Ira Ham, owner of Live Effects and producer for Wyrd Con.

The convention is set to host a large gamut of activities including interactive panels, workshops, games, tournaments, wandering performers, demos, shows, cosplay, spotlight on Alternate Reality Gaming, and more.

"We have a large number of live action games to participate in throughout the weekend; games created by various designers from all over the world, as well as other fun events woven throughout the convention" says Adrianne Grady, CEO of LARP Alliance Inc. and Technical Advisor to Hollywood's hit movie 'Role Models'.

Wyrd Con One is promoting an 'early bird' policy for those that book with the hotel by December 1st 2009. Each attendee booked before the deadline will be entered into a drawing for prizes.

"It's something that hasn't been done in this part of the globe before", states Rick McCoy, President of LARP Alliance Inc. and LARP Historian, “We are hosting a convention for all genres.”

All attendees who pre-register before April will also be gifted with personally engraved metal identification badges to honor their commitment to the convention.

Wyrd Con was created within the minds of Rick McCoy, Adrianne Grady, and Ira Ham, who assist in running numerous LARP events of all genres in SoCal.
